Proclamation for the Sundew

August 4 @ 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm
The USCG Cutter Sundew docks in Rogers City on Wednesday, August 5, at 4:00 PM at the Lakeside Park Pavilion, sixty-seven years after braving brutal winter seas to save the only two survivors of the USS Carl D. Bradley. History doesn’t often sail right up to our shoreline, but this time it will.
Mayor Scott McLennan will deliver an official proclamation. The Bradley’s salvaged bell will toll for the 33 souls lost that night. It’s a moment worth standing still for.
Hosted by the Presque Isle County Historical Museum and the Great Lakes Lore Maritime Museum, this is our chance to honor a ship and crew that showed up when it mattered most.
Come welcome a true Great Lakes hero home.
Refreshments following the ceremony.
