SOCIAL DISTRICT FAQ'S
1. What is a Social District?
A Social District is a designated area where patrons 21 and older
can legally purchase an alcoholic beverage from a participating restaurant/bar and carry and
consume it outdoors on sidewalks and in public parks.
2. How do I know where the Social District is and when it's open?
The boundaries of the
Downtown Rogers City Social District will be clearly marked with signs and sidewalk graphics.
Look for maps posted throughout the district. The Social District is open seven days a week from
11 AM to 11 PM.
3. What public parks can I enjoy my drink in?
Within the district, you can carry and consume
your alcoholic beverage in public parks such as North Shore Park, The Rogers City Marina, The
Sports Park, and Westminster Park.
4. What kind of cup do I need?
You must use a special Social District cup provided by the
participating business where you purchased your drink. These cups will clearly identify the
business that the beverage was purchased from and the Social District. They cannot be glass and
must hold no more than 16 fluid ounces.
5. Where can I purchase a Social District drink?
You can purchase an alcoholic beverage to take into the Social District at the following establishments that have received Social District permits:

7. Can I bring my own alcohol into the Social District?
No. Only alcoholic beverages purchased from ABC-permitted businesses located within the Downtown Rogers City Social
District are allowed. No outside alcohol, open containers, or refilling of cups is permitted

No. Important Note: You cannot take your Social District beverage into another establishment that sells food or alcohol, even if they are within the Social District.

11. Can I take my Social District drink home with me or in my car or bicycle?
No. Alcoholic beverages must be consumed within the Social District boundaries. Cups must be disposed of in a nearby
receptacle before exiting the Social District or entering any vehicle. Open containers are prohibited in the passenger area of any vehicle on public right-of-way within the district.
12. What happens if I leave the Social District with a drink?
Leaving the designated Social
District boundaries with an open alcoholic beverage can result in criminal charges under local open container ordinances and state laws.
13. How will this be enforced?
The Rogers City Police Department will have jurisdiction over the Social District and will enforce all local and state laws.
